Geography

The Geography department is well equipped for a variety of teaching and learning practices, both within and outside of the classroom.  The classroom has an interactive whiteboard which allows for more dynamic class presentations, involving text, diagrams, photographs and illustrations.  The whiteboard is also connected to a hi-fi system which creates a home theatre environment when viewing DVDs.

Key Stages 1, 2 & 3

Geography at New Eccles Hall is taught throughout Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.  The subject content is based on the National Curriculum, which require studies of both Physical and Human Geography.  Students also learn to apply skills such as map work, field sketching and graph drawing and interpretation.

GCSE

Geography is offered as an option at GCSE level and students complete the half-course of the AQA Specification A. The course provides the opportunity for students to build on skills learnt during Key Stage 1, 2 and 3.  The course content is a focused study of 2 units of Physical Geography and 1 unit of Human Geography.  Coursework is completed in Year 11 and is structured around an overnight field trip to the Kingswood Educational Centre in Cromer, on the north Norfolk coast.
