The department is well stocked with benches, tools and machinery for students' use.

In addition to the workshop, there is a design room that houses a good range of drawing equipment that students can use to help them design their projects.

There is a good range of text books and revision books for students' use. At present, the Junior department deliver this subject in their own classrooms through the class teachers.

We aim to provide many learning environments for students to gain experience and knowledge to aid them in their future lives. This includes designing and making material definition, uses and processes, systems and control, structures, products, quality and health and safety.

GCSE Resistant Materials
This subject will aim to develop all the above skills, with the addition of written and investigative theory work in the form of a portfolio. This represents 60% of the final award mark. There is also a written paper that represents 40% of the examination award.
