Match Reports

May 5th 2010 – Cricket v Thetford Grammar School

Thetford batted first and set a fine total of 147 for 4 wickets.  Our fielding let us down and simple basic meant that Thetford could keep the score board ticking over.  Our bowlers kept trying but line and length let them down.  Will Stammers bowled well and was on target however the pace of the ball gave them time to pick their shots.

Tea arrived and Eccles soon lead the charge for the victory.  Some stray bowling meant that Russell could knock up his first runs along with the opener of little Will Stammers.  Shots were smashed all around and the score soon followed that of Thetford.  Oliver Moyes stepped up and progressed to 23 in no time at all.  Thetford then got the better of us for a few overs and dismissed two wickets in a matter of balls.  However, Russell stayed strong and made 52 not out and managed to score the winning runs.

Eccles won by 6 wickets and 2 runs.  Well done to all that played,

May 5th 2010 – Rounders  v Thetford Grammar School

Not as convincing as the cricket, but the girls certainly tried very hard.  Having only had a few practice sessions the girls were on the back foot.  Batting and fielding need to be improved for later matches against stronger teams.  All played with heart and spirit and tried their best.

However were beaten by a better team.
